Pulwama: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom on Saturday carried out spot inspection of various projects executed under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district.
During the visit, the DC inspected various Water Supply Schemes in the district including WSS Gangoo, Ratnipora, Inder, Sethergund, Tenghar, Chandgam, Naina and Kharpora, and sought detailed assessment of the status and working of these public assets. He also interacted with the general public there and sought their feedback regarding the implementation of JJM.
It was informed that there are a total of 85 schemes in the district under JJM, and 30 percent of the work under JJM has been completed so far and others are at different phases of execution.
The DC visited Gangoo, Ratnipora, Inder and Sethar Gund where WSSs have been taken up under JJM and are being constructed at the cost of Rs 398.19 lakh, 665.00 lakhs, 602.72 lakhs and 771.80 Lakhs respectively and will benefit 14 villages.
Similarly, the WSSs at Tenghar, ChandGam, NC Naina and Kharpora will benefit 8 villages and are being executed at an estimated cost of 499.74 lakhs, 353.00 lakhs, 510.77 lakhs and 311.59 lakhs respectively
Dr Basharat said that JJM has been launched with an aim to provide potable drinking water facility to every household under the slogan “Har Ghar Nal Se Jal” and it becomes the prime concern of all stakeholders to work with dedication towards achieving this goal.
He instructed the concerned officers to mobilize more men and machinery and ensure timely completion of these Water Supply Schemes within the set timeline.
He directed concerned officers for regular site visits to monitor the ongoing work on WSSs so that remaining works will be completed by the end of the month of August.
“Efforts are made to provide tap water connections to the remaining households as well as to reach out to those villages where there is no water supply system so far,” DC asserted. He further laid stress on public participation in the effective implementation of the mission.
DC was accompanied by Superintendent Engineer, Jal Shakti Department (Hydraulic Circle Pulwama), Executive Engineers, Technical Officer JJM and Tehsildars.
