Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Handwara and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Vilgam established a checkpoint at Tarathpora-Hafrada Crossing and intercepted 2 suspicious persons who attempted to evade the police party but were apprehended tactfully following which they were identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir @Inam S/o Mohd Maqbool R/o Tarathpora and Ayaz Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Kamal R/o Hurdoona. Police in it’s statement further said that during search, 50 grams of Charas was recovered from the possession of the above named accused who were shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that the police has according registered a case vide FIR No. 75/2023 was at Police Station Vilgam and also initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that it will act strictly against people found indulging in drug peddling as per law.
