Kishtwar: The Labour and Employment Department Kishtwar organised an awareness programme for building and other construction workers here in the Dak Bungalow to educate them about the registration process and welfare schemes offered by Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB).
Roopali Gandotra, Assistant Labour Commissioner JKBOCWWB, the Chief Guest, enlightened the participants about the welfare schemes of JKBOCWWB, both in vogue and those planned to be implemented in the next financial year.
She listed several upcoming enhancements to the existing welfare schemes, including an increase in the rate of scholarships for different classes, including special scholarship of Rs. 50,000 for the wards of registered BOC workers who secure 90% and above marks in 10th and 12th Standards.
Furthermore, she discussed the re-induction of marriage assistance, emphasizing the importance of registration for construction workers to avail themselves of the benefits offered for the betterment of their livelihoods.
Addressing the concerns of the participants, she assured them that the pending cases of different assistance requests would be cleared as soon as possible by the Board.
Later, an amount of Rs 32.00 lakh was released as educational assistance for the wards of the registered workers.
The programme was attended by the staff of the Labour and Employment Department, who actively supported the successful execution of the event.
