Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug smuggler in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiaz Ahmed, assisted by Incharge Police Post Babareshi during naka checking at Bus Stand Babareshi intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during search, 30 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the accused who was identified as Ishtiyaq Ahmad Mir S/o Habibullah Mir R/o Drev Dragger Tangmarg and immediately arrested following which he shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law in Police Station Tangmarg and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that it will strictly against the people found indulging in ani-social elements .
