DGP reviews security arrangements for Amarnath Yatris

Srinagar, July 9 (UNI) Director General Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh on Sunday visited Panjtarni transit camp and took stock of the security arrangements put in place during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.
DGP was accompanied by Financial Commissioner Home (ACS) J&K, R. K. Goyal, ADGP Kashmir Zoneri Vijay Kumar and other officers during his visit. The officers also visited Baltal and Neelgrath on the Amarnath yatra route to take stock of the arrangements there.

During the visit, the officers reviewed the security arrangements put in place at the transit camp for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the yatra in a meeting with officers of all the forces and agencies.

They also took a round of the transit camp and reviewed the facilities of tentage, langers and other arrangements being provided to the pilgrims.

The officers were apprised about arrangements made for the security of yatris and to ensure hassle-free yatra. The officers discussed disaster management and rescue measures with the officers. The officers expressed satisfaction with the medical, cleanliness and security facilities.

The DGP directed the officers deployed for yatra duties to ensure the smooth conduct of the yatra and stressed for providing all necessary assistance and support to the yatris.

He emphasised upon officers to ensure that SOPs are being adhered to in letter and spirit.

He directed the officers to take all necessary measures to avoid any congestion at the camp and inconvenience to the yatris. He cautioned officers to be extra vigilant and to ensure that the safety and security of the pilgrimage is not being compromised.

The visiting officers appreciated the role of MRTs of Police & other forces who have assisted and rescued a number of yatris at various difficult locations.

They also interacted with the pilgrims and verified the facilities and arrangements.

The meeting was attended by Camp Director Sher Singh, Commandant ITBP Parminder Singh, 7 Para Major Mohit, Incharge transit camp Panjtarni SP Munish Kumar and other deployed officers.
