DC Poonch discusses arrangements for I’Day celebration

Poonch: Deputy Commissioner Yasin M. Choudhary on Saturday chaired a meeting of officers from different departments to discuss the arrangements for smooth Independence Day celebrations in the district.
The meeting held threadbare discussions on arrangements to be put in place at the venue for the National function, including security, seating, transportation, parking, electricity, refreshment, medicare, availability of ambulance, deployment of fire tenders and sanitation measures.
The meeting was informed that the main function of the celebration would be held in the Sports Stadium Poonch, where the Chief Guest will unfurl the National Flag followed by inspection of parade and taking of the salute.
The DDC said that to commemorate 75 years of Independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements, the District Administration and Sports Department is going to organise a Cricket Tournament at Zonal and district level and a slogan writing competition shall be conducted by the Information department.
It was decided that the march-past will be presented by contingents of JKP, CRPF, Fire and Emergency, Forest Protection Force, Police Band and educational institutions which would be followed by a colorful cultural programme by students.
The celebration of the day would begin with the playing of Shahnai Vadan by the Information Department in the wee hours at designated locations.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the CMO to depute Medical teams along with ambulances at the venue to meet any eventuality.
Officers from MC Poonch were directed by the Deputy Commissioner to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness of the main venue and the city as a whole.
The DC also instructed the Chief Education Officer to select the contingents for the cultural programme.
It was informed that Full Dress Rehearsal shall take place on August 13 and screening of cultural activities on 8th of August 2022.
The Information Department was asked to make arrangement for the Public Address System and Media coverage of the event.
The concerned departments were asked to ensure proper arrangements related to security, sanitation, seating arrangements, barricading, water supply, power supply, issuance of invitation cards, fire tenders and illumination of important buildings, painting of the buildings etc.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized upon all the officers to work with synergy and mutual coordination for smooth and mega celebration of the Independence Day.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Dev. Commissioner Poonch, Malikzada Sheraz Ul Haq, Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik, Additional Superintendent of Police, Mushim Ahmed, CEO Poonch Dev. Authority, Dr. Mohammad Tanveer, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Zaheer Ahmed Kaifi and other concerned officers.
