2 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam; Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam district and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by SHO Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Shampora Crossing arrested two drug peddlers identified as Khalid Mohammad S/o Bashir Ahmad Itoo R/o Kurigam and Balvinder Singh S/o Soran Singh R/o Behri Gurdaspora, Punjab, adding therein that during search 5 Kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in nylon bag were recovered from the possession of the said accused who have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that the police has according registered a case FIR Number 139/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Qazigund and initiated further investigation into the case, Poice in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police urged people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and also assured them that it will act tough against the persons involved in anti-social activities, as per law.
