With the completion of 1.08 Kilometer long Ramban viaduct and another two lane viaduct running parallel to this viaduct nearing completion the traffic on the most vulnerable Ramban-Banihal track is likely to be eased in the first quarter of the next month. While the irrefutable fact is that Ramban-Banihal track is not only known for frequent traffic blockades but also for it’s vulnerability to tragic road accidents more during the chilly winter months and less during summer months, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) executing Jammu-Srinagar four lane highway project has fast paced the work on the remaining vulnerable parts of the Ramban-Banihal track likely to be completed by the year end. Though the completion of 1.08 kilometer long Ramban viaduct and another parallel viaduct likely to be completed shortly would ease traffic near the Ramban main market for both the Amarnath Yatris and as well as the tourists this summer, but still many more parts of Ramban-Banihal track are vulnerable to road accidents and frequent traffic blockades and as such the dream of hassle free traffic on Ramban-Banihal track would hopefully come true only after the completion of the remaining parts of this deadly track of Jammu-Srinagar highway. Since major vulnerable parts of the new four lane Jammu-Srinagar highway will be mostly covered by tunnels and bridges, the work on incomplete under construction tunnels and bridges on Ram-Banihal track remains the bigger challenge for National Highway Authority Of India (NHAI) in completing the four lane Jammu-Srinagar highway project.
“The completion of the incomplete parts of Jammu-Srinagar highway besides making travel of Amarnath Yatris and tourists hassle free would also ease the transportation of apple from Kashmir to several parts of the country and in fact apple transported to different parts of the country won’t rot due to frequent traffic blockades on Jammu-Srinagar highway for days together. So by all standards of understandabilities the completion of Jammu-Srinagar highway besides reducing the travel time between Jammu and Srinagar from10-12 to 4-5 hours would also boost trade and tourism across Kashmir which in turn would also further the bigger causes of employment generation”.
Though National Highway Authority Of India (NHAI) has fast paced the work on bridges and tunnels on Ramban-Banihal track of the new Jammu-Srinagar four lane highway but yet again the targets set for completing the incomplete bridges and tunnels on this track in given timelines can’t be achieved without fast pacing the ongoing works all along Jammu-Srinagar highway . The completion of the incomplete parts of Jammu-Srinagar highway besides making travel of Amarnath Yatris and tourists hassle free would also ease the transportation of apple from Kashmir to several parts of the country and in fact apple transported to different parts of the country won’t rot due to frequent traffic blockades on Jammu-Srinagar highway for days together.
