6 held for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in B’gam, 5 vehicles also : Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested six persons and also seized five vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Budgam district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established at Soibugh Chowk intercepted 5 vehicles (tippers) bearing registration numbers JK01P-8145, JK04B-0876, JK02AC-6616, JK04E-9658 and JK04E-8398 carrying illegally extracted minerals, adding therein that all the vehicles were seized and 5 drivers and one conductor were arrested. Police in it’ s statement further said that the said accused have been identified as Younis Ahmad Dar S/o Ab Majeed Dar R/o Nasrullahpora, Mehraj Ahmad Beigh S/o Gh.Mohi-ud-Din Beigh R/o Qadipora and Muzaffar Ahmed Mir S/o Ali Mohd Mir R/o Nasrullahpora, Shahid Rahman Bhat S/o Ab Rahman Bhat R/o Hakermullah, Waseem Ahmad Ganaie S/o Mohd Ismail Ganaie R/o Chattabugh Budgam and Ishfaq Ahmad Malik S/o Gh. Nabi Malik R/o Soibugh Budgam.
Stating that the police accordingly registered the case vide FIR No. 184/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Budgam and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned people that it will act strictly against people found indulging in illegal extraction activities as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
