DC B’pora visits Gundpora area, inspects works

Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Thursday visited Gundpora area and inspected various works, including the macdamization of Gundpora-Rampora link road.
Dr Owais was accompanied by DDC member Arin, Officers of the R&B, Jal Shakti and other allied departments.
During the visit, the DC inspected the ongoing macadamization and upgradation of the main road along with the inner links. He sought details from the concerned government officers and executing agencies regarding work progress and directed them to maintain the quality of work.
Locals thanked District Administration for macadamizing roads and also apprised Dr. Owais about other issues during an interaction.
Officers informed that 800 mtrs road is being macadamized at the cost of Rs 29 lakhs under the cities and towns plan of financial year 2023-24.
Dr Owais Ahmad said a record length of roads were macadamized in the last two years in the district, while the pace will continue this year to ensure macadamization of all left out important roads. He said this year left out, and inner link roads are also being macadamized.
Dr Owais said that the district took a distinct leap in road connectivity by macadamizing more than 400 kilometers of road length during two years including 16 long pending road projects of far flung areas besides being able to metal the same length (400KMS) of other roads.
He said this year the macadamization has started again and is in full swing across the district, including Gurez Valley. He expressed hope to break the record of macadamization this year.
The DC directed the officers to keep check on the quality of work so that standard is maintained for ensuring the safety of roads.
Later, the DC also visited the shrine of sufi saint Makhdoom Sb RA and took stock of the facilities available for the visiting disciples.
On the occasion, the Managing Committee of Shrine requested for the development of roads leading to shrine, fencing, and beautification of the shrine. Dr Owais assured that all possible measures will be taken for the convenience of the visitors.
