Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three persons for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and also seized 3 vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by Incharge Police Post Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohammad Nawaz seized three vehicles (tractors) and arrested three drivers for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Dargam Nallah Palhallan, adding therein that the said accused were identified as Asif Ahmad Ganie S/o Ghulam Nabi R/o Saloosa Kreeri, Tanveer Ahmad War S/o Sonaullah War R/o Tengpora Pattan & Farooq Ahmad Tantray S/o Ghulam Qadir R/o Gulabwari Naidkhai.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Pattan and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt strictly as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
