Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has busted a sex racket and arrested 6 persons in Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that it received inputs about the involvement of some some persons in immoral activities in a rented house near Bus Stand Baramulla following which a Police Party led by SHO Police Station Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla busted the prostitution racket.
Stating that the racket was run by a tenant identified as Lateef Ahmad Chechi S/o Mohammad Younis Chechi R/o Malangam Bandipora, Police in it’s statement said that the accused identified as Altaf Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Ahmad Dar R/o Kralhar Baramulla, Khurshid Ahmad Chechi S/o Abdul Rashid Chechi R/o Malangam Bandipora and Manzoor Ahmad Khan S/o Saifuddin Khan R/o Qazi Hamam Baramulla besides two female sex workers (name withheld) were also detained.
Police on in it’s statement furthermore said that a case vide FIR No.136/2023 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Baramulla and further investigation was also initiated into the case. In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people verify the credentials of tenants before giving their Houses/rooms/shops on rent.
