Omar too questions govt’s proposal to provide land to homeless in J&K

Srinagar: After Mehbooba Mufti, former Chief Minister and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah too raised questions on J&K governmen’s “land for homeless scheme”.
“Government should clear who are homeless and how you (the government) are counting the number of homeless people in Jammu and Kashmir,” Omar told media persons in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday.
“Did government count those people also who have just arrived here a week ago and claim for land,” Omar said and questioned, has the government decided any cut off date for providing land to them.
“I think those people who have come to Jammu and Kashmir after 2019 should not be included in this list,” he said and added, “If one is homeless and does not have any land and government wants to adjust them should be provided only to those who are staying here before 2019.”
He said the government has tried to settle down so many people after 2019 in Jammu and Kashmir.
“And if the government is talking about providing land to those who arrived here just a week ago…it
is obvious that doubts would arrive in the hearts and minds of the people” he said
He said the government should first clarify on what basis they are counting the homeless people in Jammu and Kashmir.
