Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and also seized three vehicles in Budgam.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Humhama at a checkpoint established at Sheikhpora near Petrol Pump, seized three tippers and arrested three drivers namely Mohd Akbar Bhat S/o Gh Mohd Bhat R/o Khanpora Budgam, Fayaz Ahmad Chopan S/o Gh Mohd Chopan R/o Wadipora Budgam and Zubair Ahmad Lone S/o Mohammad Talib R/o Dafpora Budgam for illegal transportation of minerals.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 182/2023 was accordingly registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Budgam and initiated further course investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that it will act strictly against people found indulging in illegal mining activities as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
