Kulgam : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested eight persons and also seized eight vehicles from their possession involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarter Srinagar Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Altaf seized eight vehicles and also arrested eight persons at Drangbal Baramulla for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, adding therein that the accused drivers have been identified as Aqib Nayeem Wani S/o Nayeem Ahmad Wani R/o Taki Sultan Drangbal, Mohd Asif Tantray S/o Manzoor Ahmad R/o Zoogiyar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Gojri S/o Gh Mohd R/o Drangbal, Imtiyaz Ahmad Malik S/o Gh Hassan R/o Drangbal, Mohd Syed Dar S/o Gh Ahmad R/o Jalsheeri, Bashir Ahmad Gojri S/o Mohd Usman R/o Drangbal, Junaid Ahmad Peer S/o Bashir Ahmad R/o Lolab Sogam & Wahid Ahmad Sheikh S/o Gh Qadir R/o Seer Jageer.
Stating that Police has later accordingly registered the case under relevant sections of law in Police Station Baramulla and initiated further investigation, Police in the concluding para of it’s above statement, police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
