New Delhi: The Election Commission of India on Tuesday announced the schedule for elections to 10 Rajya Sabha seats from Goa, Gujarat and West Bengal, as the term of the present MPs including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will end in between July and August.
According to a communique issued by the poll panel, elections to one RS seat in Goa, three in Gujarat and six in West Bengal will take place on July 24 from 0900 hours to 1600 hours, and the counting of votes will be held on the same day.
The EC said notification will be issued on July 6 and the last date of filing nomination is July 13.
The scrutiny of the nomination will take place on July 14 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is July 17, the poll panel said.
The Commission also announced the bye-elections to one RS seat from West Bengal on the same day. The seat fell vacant following resignation of TMC MP Luizinho Faleiro.
