Handwara: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday carried out drive to destroy bhang cultivation in Handwara.
“Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Handwara destroyed bhang cultivation in Langate Area”, said a police official.
“A police team from Police Chogal along with BDC Chairman Langate destroyed wild bhang spread on large area in Langate area”, the official said.
“The general public of the area have appreciated the action of police and have urged the police to continue such drives in nearby areas also”, the official said.
The police has in the meantime requested community members to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood.
“Persons found indulging in drug peddling and cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law and our consistent actions against such anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace”, the official said.
