Though some parts of four lane Jammu-Srinagar highway are yet to be completed to further the causes of hassle fee travel for both the tourists and as well as local travelers, but temporary constructions from where tea stalls and dhabas have already come up without basic civic facilities deserve immediate attention and intervention of both the National Highway Authority Of India (NHAI) and as well as Jammu & Kashmir Government. The commercial structures built without building permissions along the four lane Jammu-Srinagar highway if regulated well by the concerned civic bodies would have all the basic human facilities for both the tourists and as well as the local travelers. A decision to restrain people from raising temporary constructions for commercial activities along this four lane highway and encourage construction of permanent structures with all basic human facilities could ease the travel for both the tourists and as well as the local travelers on this highway. Keeping in view the fact that after the completion of this highway both the local travelers and as well as the tourists would most likely prefer travel by road from Jammu to Srinagar instead of purchasing air tickets for over and above five thousand rupees for air travel to reach Srinagar, wisdom demands that Government accords priority to the construction of commercial structures for hassle free availability of services all along the four lane Jammu-Srinagar highway after it’s completion. Better regulation of commercial constructions won’t just ensure availability of hassle free basic human facilities to both the tourists and as well as the local travelers but would also reduce the scope for encroachments of all shapes and sizes all along the four lane Jammu-Srinagar highway.
“Before the completion of the four lane Jammu-Srinagar highway it would be better for the Government to take up the issue of commercial constructions for basic human facilities with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) which is mandated to maintain the four lane highway after it’s completion likely early next year. Ground work for construction of basic human facilities if started early in consultation with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) would go well with the purposes of hassle free travel on four lane Jammu-Srinagar highway after it’s completion in next few months”.
Though under construction four lane Jammu-Srinagar is likely to be less prone to road accidents but wisdom demands that Government also rolls out a plan for establishing well equipped and well staffed hospital hospitals where the travelers injured in road accidents can be treated well instead of leaving the scope open for shifting travelers injured in road accidents to nearby district hospitals and referral hospitals of Srinagar and Jammu.
