Ramban :: The Drug & Food Control Organisation and Police Department jointly carried out an inspection of various medical stores. The inspection checked registration, authorisation and record of availability and sale of medicines, as well as standard parameters of medicines available in chemists’ shops.
On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam and Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohita Sharma; SDPO Banihal, Nissar Khoja; SHO Banihal Mohd Afzal Wani and Drug Control Officer Imtiyaz Ahmed conducted a special drive of medical shops at Banihal. The drive aimed to ensure that pharmacies were not engaged in unethical sale of psychotropic drugs and were maintaining proper records of psychotropic drugs and insulin syringes.
During the drive, it was stressed that pharmacies should fulfil their moral responsibilities and maintain proper records, especially of psychotropic drugs. The drive was conducted to control drug abuse with the aim of making Ramban District drug abuse-free. Instructions were issued to desist from malpractices, unethical trade and misuse of psychotropic drugs like Tramadol and Tapentadol by anti-social elements who intend to spread addiction and intoxication among the youth. Chemists were directed to install CCTV cameras in their premises and adopt a computerised billing system for record maintenance.
SDPO requested the public to cooperate and keep an eye on persons or medical stores selling intoxicating drugs to the youth. The DCO requested the general public to be vigilant about persons involved in the trade of narcotics and psychotropic drugs and inform the concerned authorities if they found any violation of rules.
