Handwara|June, 21: The NSS units and NCC wing of Government Degree College Handwara in collaboration with AYUSH department Handwara observed the International Yoga Day with extraordinary zeal and enthusiasm here on Wednesday.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries including college faculty members, Yoga experts associated with AYUSH Handwara, President Municipal Committee Handwara Bashir Ahmad Khan and representatives of Boys and Girls Higher Secondary Schools Handwara.
Sleet Shah, Deputy Superintendent Police Handwara, also graced the occasion with herpresence. She appreciated the efforts of the college and AYUSH administration for promoting meditation, mindfulness, and mental health awareness in general, and Yoga in particular.
Speaking on the occasion, “She highlighted the significance of yoga as a holistic practice that promotes overall well-being and stressed the importance of incorporating it into daily life for a healthier and balanced lifestyle.”
Following the inaugural ceremony, an experienced yoga instructor led a collective yoga session, guiding participants through a series of yoga postures and breathing exercises. The atmosphere was filled with positive energy as the participants gracefully moved from one posture to another, focusing on their breath and finding inner balance.
The principal of the college, Prof Dilruba Rasool Hamdani, expressed gratitude to the organizers, staff, and participants of the event and pledged to prioritize the meditation and mental health of all stakeholders. She highlighted how Yoga, an indigenous meditation practice, has been globally
accepted for fostering mental clarity, attentiveness, and tranquility.
