Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested three persons and also seized three vehicles for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan assisted by Incharge PP Palhallan seized three vehicles (excavator, 2 tractors) and also arrested three persons for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Dargam Nallah Pattan who were identified as Showkat Ahmad Sheikh S/o Shabir Ahmad Sheikh R/o Kangan Ganderbal, Javid Ahmad Waza S/o Ghulam Qadir Waza R/o Frestihar Kreeri & Owais Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Rafiq Bhat R/o Pakipora.
Stating that police has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at the Police Station Pattan and also initiated further course of investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
