With Government deciding to give such students the right to seek admissions for undergraduate courses in colleges of their choice within Jammu & Kashmir who were allotted centres for Common University Entrance Examination (CUET) outside Jammu & Kashmir despite the intervention by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha over relocation of examination centres., hundreds of students are now likely to cease the opportunity of taking admissions in the colleges within Jammu & Kashmir. Since some students from Jammu & Kashmir could not appear in the Common University Entrance Examination(CUET) for undergraduate courses due to arrival of G-20 team in Srinagar and Jammu somewhere nearer the scheduled dates for the said entrance examination despite intervention of Lt Government for relocation of examination centres, the Government without asking questions and seeking explanations from the students very rightly announced a decision to give such students of Jammu & Kashmir the right to admissions in the colleges within Jammu & Kashmir on the basis of their merit in Class 12 examination. Though Jammu & Kashmir Government augmented the requisite infrastructure in the shortest possible time to help students appear in the entrance examination at the examination centres outside the Jammu & Kashmir but even then some students were not able to reach in time their examination centres outside Jammu & Kashmir and they had some discrepancies even 0in the dates fixed for the said Entrance Examination by the National Testing Agency (NTA). What matters the most is the fact that National Testing Agency (NTA) by all standards of understandabilities won’t have considered the demand for conduct of a separate entrance examination for such students who could not appear in the entrance examination at the examination centres outside Jammu & Kashmir for one or the other reason even if Jammu & Kashmir Government would press hard for it at the highest level..

“Since Common University Test as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, is a standardised entrance test conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) with the basic motive to streamline the admission process for undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by Universities across the country, the students of Jammu & Kashmir also won’t have issues in future if Jammu & Kashmir Government itself takes care of their core academic interests”.

The way Government has taken care of the interests of the students in the Common University Entrance Examination (CUET) for undergraduate courses held by the National Testing Agency (NTA) is absolutely laudable and more such academic matters concerning the interests of the students would surely sent out a message of belongingness to aspirational youth from the Jammu & Kashmir Government in Jammu & Kashmir. Since Common University Test as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, is a standardised entrance test conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) with the basic motive to streamline the admission process for undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by Universities across the country, the students of Jammu & Kashmir also won’t have issues in future if Jammu & Kashmir Government itself takes care of their core academic interests.
