Int’l Day against Drug Abuse: D&FCO ropes in Pharmacists to spread public awareness at Bishnah

Jammu: To mark the upcoming International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit trafficking, Drugs and Food Control Organization J&K organized an awareness program at Bishnah on the prevention of drug abuse- Role of Pharmacists Fraternity in eradication of the menace from the society.
The objective of the awareness programme was to strengthen action and cooperation of Pharma Fraternity in achieving a role model society free of Drug Abuse.
The awareness Programme was attended by people from different sections of the society, including Prominent Citizens and Senior officers of the Department.
Mohammad Iqbal, Deputy Drugs Controller; Renuka Raina, Deputy Drugs Controller ((I&L); Arvind Sharma, Assistant Drugs Controller, Jammu; Archana Mujoo, Assistant Drugs Controller ( HQ) Jammu; Pankaj Malhotra, Assistant Drugs Controller; Drugs Control Officers, besides Nikhil Gogna, SDPO, R.S Pura /Bishnah; Vikram Sharma, SHO Bishnah and Members of Chemists Association of Bishnah and R.S Pura.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Iqbal Palla, Deputy Drugs Controller invited an urgent attention of Stakeholders towards this issue. He informed that the Government has initiated pro active measures by constituting District Level Monitoring Committees under NOCORD to bring an end to this menace and rehabilitate the affected youth. He said that the Department has adopted Zero Tolerance Policy against the nefarious elements and has taken proactive measures to prohibit the illicit use of medicinal formulations and it will go a long way in dealing with the disastrous problem within our society.
Renuka Raina, Deputy Drugs Controller, ILJ ,J and K, in her address said that such programs definitely help to educate the common masses about the drug abuse which is destroying our future generations. She said that Border Belts of R.S Pura and Bishnah are sensitive and strict vigil shall be maintained in such areas .
Nikhil Gogna , SDPO, R.S Pura also deliberated on the social evil and informed that Police Authorities have put the department on high alert to eradicate the social evil from the society. He emphasized that all the sections of society shall join hands to propagate the awareness regarding ill effects of drug abuse amongst the ignorant masses
Archana Mujoo, Assistant Drugs Controller, Jammu also apprised the Participants about ill effects of drug menace & its effect on society. She impressed upon the trade fraternity to switch over to computerized system of billing for maintenance of records and install CCTV cameras in light of guidelines issued by Government
Anuj Kumar, President Chemist Association Bishnah and S. Ijwant Singh, President Chemist Association R.S Pura assured full cooperation of that association in restricting the sale of restricted drugs except for the legitimate requirements.
