Advisor Bhatnagar inaugurates blood donation camp

Says “the gesture as symbol of compassion, solidarity”

Srinagar : Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, on Wednesday inaugurated a blood donation camp at GB Pant Hospital here to mark ‘World Blood Donors Day’ celebration.
“Donating blood is essentially a gesture, an act of compassion and solidarity which can be the most precious gift which a person can give to another person saving numerous lives on earth”, maintained the Advisor.
The camp, which was organised by the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir in collaboration with Badami Bagh Cantonment (BBC), was aimed to foster a culture of voluntary blood donation while addressing the critical need for blood supply in entire Jammu and Kashmir.
Secretary Health and Medical Education, Bhupinder Kumar; CEO BBC, senior officers of health department, doctors, paramedical staff and large number of blood donors were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Advisor Bhatnagar highlighted the humanitarian aspect of blood donation saying that it symbolizes compassion and unity within society. He encouraged the participants to actively participate in similar initiatives to meet the increasing demand for blood transfusions, especially during emergencies and medical procedures.
Advisor further said that this year’s theme “Give Blood, Give Plasma, Share Life, Share Often” is very unique and this theme depicts the significance of this important service for the mankind. He added that it also focuses on life long transfusion support and underlines the role every single person can play, by giving the valuable gift of blood or plasma.
Advisor Bhatnagar remarked that every single donation is a precious lifesaving gift and repeated donation is key to building a safe and sustainable blood supply. He emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation while explaining how it plays a vital role in ensuring timely medical care for patients in need.
While speaking on establishment of health related infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir, Advisor Bhatnagar highlighted that in the last few years medical infrastructure of world class level has been established in J&K besides universal health coverage to all residents is being provided under SEHAT scheme. He added that 28 blood banks, 30 blood storage units, seven blood separation component units and other related medical infrastructure has been established in the J&K.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhupinder Kumar said that this day is very important as it covers the significant aspect of mankind. He also spoke in length about importance of voluntary blood donation and its significance in critical medical care.
During the event, Advisor Bhatnagar also interacted with several blood donors and distributed appreciation certificates among them.
