6 drug peddlers arrested, Contraband substance & cash also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested six drug peddlers in Baramulla and Budgam besides recovering contraband substance and cash from their possession.
In a statement issued from zonal police headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Sheeri at a checkpoint established at Main Market Sheeri, arrested two drug peddlers identified as Bilal Ah Dar S/o Ghulam Rasool Dar and Parvaiz Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Mohi Ud Din Dar, both residents of Heewan Sheeri, adding therein that during searches 103 grams of Charas and cash amounting Rs. 32,250/- was recovered from their possession and later they were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in its above statement said that in a similar action a police party of PP Wagoora at a checkpoint established at Nowpora Market Kreeri arrested two drug peddlers identified as Nasir Ahmad Wani S/o Ghulam Mohd Wani R/o Tapper & Mohd Amir Mir S/o Abdul Ahad Mir R/o Hail Jageer Kreeri, adding therein that during searches 26 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession and the accused were shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that similarly in Budgam district also, a police party of Police Station Budgam at a checkpoint established at Choon Crossing, arrested a drug peddler identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar alias Nik Khan S/o Ghulam Qadir Dar R/o Razwan Budgam and during searches 7 grams of Heroin and 20 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession, Police in it’s statement furthermore said that in another actio a drug peddler was arrested during patrolling in Ichigam area of Budgam who was identified as Ghulam Mustafa Rather S/o Mohammad Abdullah Rather R/o Ichigam and during searches 5 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession, adding therein that
police has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective Police Stations and investigations have been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that it will strictly act against the people indulging in drug peddling as per law
