4 persons arrested for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in Bla & B’gam, 4 vehicles also seized : Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested four persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, in Baramulla and Budgam districts respectively and four vehicles have been also seized.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Pattan under the supervision of Incharge SDPO Pattan Altaf Ahmad Khan assisted by SHO PS Pattan seized two vehicles (tractors) and arrested two persons for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Karewa Pattan who were later identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Mian S/o Mohd Afzal Main & Mehraj ud Din Ganie S/o Abdul Gani, both residents of Buran Pattan.
Police in its statement also said that in a similar action in Budgam district also a police party of Police Post Humhama during Naka/patrolling at Tawheed Abad Humhama intercepted two tippers transporting illegally extracted clay during the broad daylight and seized them on spot besides arresting two drivers identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Khan S/o Ali Mohd Khan R/o Sheikhpora Budgam and Rayees Ahmad Mir S/o Gulzar Ahmad Mir R/o Ompora Budgam.
Stating that the police has later accordingly registered cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and initiated further couse of investigations into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that it will strictly act against the people found indulging in illegal mining activities as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
