3 drug smugglers booked under PIT NDPS Act in Bla, 3 others also booked under PSA for anti-national activities: Police

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has booked three drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act, besides three other persons under PSA for anti-national activities in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that 3 notorious drug smugglers identified as Gh Mohd Dar S/o Ab Rehman Dar R/o Mirgund Pattan, Manzoor Ahmad Dar S/o Assadullah Dar R/o Singhpora Pattan & Mohd Yaqoob Dar S/o Gh Rasool Dar R/o Renji Pattan have been booked under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority and subsequently they have been lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu. Police in it’s statement further said that many cases were registered against these drug smugglers who were involved in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Mirgund, Singhpora, Pattan, Renji and other areas of District Baramulla, adding therein that despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
Police in its above statement furthermore said that similarly, three more persons identified as Mohd Ashraf Mir S/o Assadullah Mir R/o Wussan Pattan, Mohd Yaseen Bhat S/o Gh Mohi-udin R/o Tapper Pattan & Wasid Ashraf Sofi S/o Mohd Ashraf Sofi R/o Watergam Wagoora involved in anti-national activities have been detained under Public Safety Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority and subsequently they have been lodged in District Jail Udhampur, Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu and District Jail Kathua respectively.
Stating that the police has later accordingly registered cases under relevant sections of law in the respective police stations and accordingly initiated further course of investigation into the cases, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement reassured people that efforts are on to keep society free from drug abuse.
