Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested 6 persons in Baramulla district who were involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and seized as many vehicles in Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of PS Kunzer under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg seized three vehicles (tippers) and arrested three persons for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Bungam Kunzer who were identified as Nisar Ahmad Malik S/o Ab Hamid R/o Pariswani, Shabir Ahmad Ganie S/o Gh Qadir R/o Ratnipora & Firdous Ahmad Magray S/o Gh Rasool R/o Chandil Wanigam.
Police in its statement also said that in a similar action a police party of Police Post Mirgund under the supervision of SDPO Pattan seized 3 vehicles (tippers) and arrested three persons for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Khanpeth who were later identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Reshi S/o Gh Ahmad Reshi R/o Hanjiwera, Umar Nabi Parray S/o Gh Nabi Parray R/o Gokhama Kunzer & Jahangir Ahmad Shah S/o Gh Hassan Shah R/o Batpora Kunzer.
Stating that the police accordingly registered cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and initiated further course of investigations into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that pople found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
