GMC Baramulla Hosts one day workshop on Neonatal Nursing

Baramulla: Government Medical College Baramulla on Friday hosted a one-day preconference workshop on “Neonatal Nursing” in the college auditorium.
Officials said that the workshop was a part of the larger North Zone NEOCON 2023 conference taking place at SKICC Srinagar from 8th to 10th June organized by the National Neonatology Forum of India J&K Chapter in association with NNFI India. Government Medical College Anantnag is hosting the main conference at SKICC Srinagar.
The workshop witnessed an enthusiastic participation of nursing officers from various hospitals including GMC Baramulla, GMC Handwara, SDH Sopore, SDH Kreeri and other peripheral hospitals of North Kashmir. The event aimed to enhance knowledge and skills of Nursing officers in neonatal care and focused on vital aspects such as infection control practices in NICU and SNCU, equipment maintenance, breastfeeding and KMC, antiseptic non-touch technique, and developmentally supportive care.
The workshop boasted an impressive line-up of faculty, including nursing experts from esteemed institutions such as AIIMS New Delhi, Lady Hardinge Medical College New Delhi, Jamia Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi SKIMS Srinagar, GMC Anantnag, and GMC Jammu. The faculty shared presentations on assorted topics followed by lively discussions. Their presence added immense value to the event, providing a diverse range of expertise and experiences to the participants.
Dr. Ghulam Rasool Wani, Professor and Head of the Department of Pediatrics at GMC Baramulla, warmly welcomed the faculty and delegates, setting the tone for an engaging and fruitful day of learning. The event also received a message of enthusiasm and congratulations from Dr. (Prof) Ruby Reshi, Principal of GMC Baramulla, further acknowledging the efforts of the organizing team. The organising team included Dr Waseem Iqbal. Dr. Mohd Irshad, Dr. Syed Kaiser Jan and Dr. Mudassir Hassan from GMC Baramulla and Dr Ashfaq Masood and Dr Khalid Rahim from Directorate of Health Services.
The workshop incorporated hands-on training sessions where delegates had the opportunity to acquire practical skills related to neonatal nursing. These interactive sessions allowed participants to apply theoretical knowledge and strengthen their competencies in various areas of neonatal care.
This workshop on neonatal nursing not only provided valuable education and training to nursing officers but also promoted collaboration and best practices that need to be followed in neonatal care.
