ECO Club GDC Udhampur launches 21 day Mission LiFE activities with signature campaign

Udhampur: In the continuum of the series of awareness programs under India’s Presidency of G20 nations and taking forward the torch of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Kaal, the Eco Club of GDC Udhampur launched a 21 day coninuous under Mission Life.
It’s pertinent to mention that the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India envisages a thrust on the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle For Environment). The Mission LiFE was introduced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, at the World Leader’s Summit at Glasgow in 2021 UNFCC COP 26, where He gave a clarion call to rekindle a global pursuit to adopt sustainable lifestyle and practices.
To materialize this and to usher a mass mobilization for the Mission LiFE, the Eco Club organized on Friday an awareness cum signature Campaign.
The programme was conducted in the presence and patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta. The programme commenced with the formal welcome address by convenor eco-club Prof Imtiaz Shahid.
Speaking on the occasion Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal deliberated upon the significance of Mission LiFE.
He Kick started the Mission LiFE 21 Days by a Signature Campaign and motivated the students to practice sustainable and eco friendly lifestyle for next 21 days and spread awareness by acting as ambassadors of Mission LiFE. He laid emphasis on bringing small changes in daily routine like saving energy, water, reducing waste, adopting sustainable and healthy lifestyles and urged to take a pledge for Mission LiFE. Speaking on the theme of the event ‘# Beat Plastic Pollution”, he stressed upon the total ban on single use plastics and adopting alternatives which are eco friendly. He also appreciated the students for their active participation.
Speaking on the theme of the event “# Beat Plastic Pollution” and” Sustainable Development Goals” for clean and green environment, Prof. Imtaiz Shahid explained in detail about the current crisis and situation that we are likely to get struck with in near future if we do not mend our ways and take it as our supreme responsibility to contribute our part in the restoration, rejuvenation and regeneration of mother earth and achieve SDG’s. He stressed upon the eco-friendly lifestyle and other themes of Mission LiFE to be met during the economic revolution that is saving humanity from climate crises and creating a green economy for everyone. Students from different streams of the college actively participated in the event.
The Programme was coordinated by Prof Jawaid Sarver, Dr Vipul Chalotra, Dr Swarn Singh, Prof Sonia Raj, and Dr Anita Sharma.
The programme was attended by Students, teaching and non-teaching staff of the College. The programme was concluded with the formal vote of thanks by Asha Sohil, Head Department of Env. Sciences.
