Srinagar : A three-day specialised eye screening camp for employees started at the University of Kashmir on Thursday.
According to a statement issued from Centre for Public Relations University of Kashmir, Srinagar Vice-Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan inaugurated the camp, organised by Kashmir University Health Centre (KUHC) in collaboration with Kashmir Eye Hospital to provide basic to advanced eye screening facilities for employees of the varsity under one roof.
Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir, Coordinator KUHC Dr Khalid Nazir, Medical Officers KUHC Dr Surayyah Jan, Dr Azhar Ahad and Dr Iqra Mehraj were also present.
The Vice-Chancellor went around different sections, where specialised doctors were screening the employees and expressed her satisfaction at the conduct of the camp in a highly professional manner.
Saying that the University administration was conscious of its employees’ wellbeing, the VC said the present camp is yet another initiative in that direction.
“Previously also we have conducted such camps for our students and employees to have them evaluated for different ailments like diabetes and hypertension. We will continue with this endeavor in future as well,” she said.
The VC on the occasion also reviewed various facilities available at the KUHC and vowed to add more facilities in future in the larger interest of students and employees.
Notably, a team of doctors including Dr Ishfaq A Sofi, Dr Adil Majeed and Dr Shabnam will evaluate the employees for a range of eye-related problems, including Amblyopia, Cataracts, Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, Squint Eye, Refractive Errors, among others, during the three-day camp.
On the first day, nearly 300 employees were evaluated.
Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir congratulated the KUHC for organising the collaborative camp. Dr Khalid Nazir spelt out the broad objectives of the programme.
