2 drug peddlers held in Bla, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police in Baramulla on Thursday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Post Mirgund at a checkpoint established at Jheel Bridge Pattan arrested a drug peddler who was trying to flee from the spot after noticing police party but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that the accused has been identified as Gh Hussain Ganie S/o Mohd Hatim R/o Kripalpora Payeen and during searches police recovered 70 grams of Cannabis Powder from his possession.
Police in it’s above referred statement said that in a similar action a police party of Police Post Delina at a checkpoint established at Delina Baramulla intercepted a vehicle (Sumo) bearing registration number JK05B-0111 driven by Raakib Bashir Hurrah S/o Bashir Ahmad Hurrah R/o Kanispora Baramulla and during searches recovered 12 grams of Heroin was recovered from the possession of the accused which led to his arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that both the arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement furthermore said that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and initiated an investigations into the case
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that it will strictly act against the people found indulging in drug peddling as per law.
