Khansahib|Budgam,May 8: Chairman J&K Peoples Democratic Front( JKPDF) and former Minister Kakem Muhammad Yaseen has expressed serious concern over the erratic powr supply adding that there seems to be no relief for the people of kashmir facing worst ever power shortage even after end of the winter season .
“ Kashmir is passing through worst ever power crisis as unscheduled and prolonged power cuts have made the life of residents very miserable , Hakeem said in a statement issued on Thursday. He said that tall claims of the Government about 24 hours power supply have proved totally as hoax-pass . He said normally , after harsh winters , always there was seen some improvement in power supply position but this time government had miserably failed to improve power supply in Kashmir thereby pushing the hapless people to the wall. He said the erratic power supply in Kashmir has not affected common people and student community but has taken heavy toll of the industrialists ,hoteliers and shopkeepers also . “ If the prevailing erratic power supply position was not addressed immediately ,it may prove an economic disaster as the tourism industry too will get heavy set back ,Hakeem observed.
PDF Chairman has alleged that government was adopting a lackadaisical approach in exploiting vast hydro power potential in Kashmir adding that some most important power projects including Shaliganga and Sukhnag mini hydle power projects in Khansahib area of district Budgam are awaiting execution since about last 10 years when these were approved by the Cabinet. He said these mini hydro power projects have got technical ,economical and environmental feasibility clearance and have vast potential to cater to the electricity needs of a vast area in district Budgam .“ It was most unfortunate that despite repeated assurances by the previous Governors , to start work on these power projects , nothing practical was done on the ground ,Hakeem lamented while appealing Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to personally intervene into the matter. He said these power projects have immense public importance and would go a long way in bringing a tangible socio- economic transformation in a large area of district Budgam. He said keeping these two power projects linger on was a great injustice to the people of Budgam ,Khansahib and Chrari Sharief.
