DC Srinagar holds Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Takiya Sangreshi Khimber

Says “New building for Govt Boys Middle School to be taken up under SAMAGRA Scheme”

Srinagar: In its endeavour to bring Administration to the door steps of the people particularly living in remote areas of the District, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Wednesday held a Public Grievance Redressal Camp under weekly Block Diwas at Takiya Sangreshi, Khimber, the last habitation of Srinagar District to listen to the developmental demands of the local people and address their issues.
DDC Member, Qaiser Ahmad Ganai, DDC Member Shabir Ahmad, Panchayat representatives and a large number of people of Takiya Sangreshi, Khimber and adjoining areas in North Tehsil of the District were part of the Public Grievance Redressal Camp.
While, Chief Planning Officer Srinagar, District Statistics & Evaluation Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Horticulture fficer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Tehsildar North, BDO Harwan, Executive Engineer R&B, Lead District Manager and other District Officers were also present on the occasion.
During the Grievance Redressal Camp, the DDC members and the people of the area expressed their gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner for bringing the District Administration at their doorsteps by holding Block Diwas at Takiya Sangreshi, Khimber the last habitation of Srinagar District.
On the occasion, local DDC member, PRI representatives projected various issues and demands before the Deputy Commissioner including infrastructure upgradation of Government Boys Middle School, construction/upgradation of road from Takiya Sangreshi to Mongi Dajan, providing local transportation facility, installation of mobile tower in area for mobile connectivity, renovation of Ziyarat Takiya Sangreshi providing employment opportunities to local youth and other development related matters.
The Deputy Commissioner after giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public issued on the spot instructions for their time bound redressal. He assured them that all other genuine demands and issues projected by them will be taken up with concerned authorities on priority.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said the purpose of holding such grievance redressal Camps is to take appraisal of local issues from the general public and ensure their time bound redressal without visiting the DC Office or other Government Offices.
With regard to the demand related to upgradation of road, the DC said that upgradation work on 1.5 kilometre road from Takiya Sangreshi to Mongi Dajan via Government Boys Middle School is being taken up under NABARD at a cost of Rs 3.10 crore so that local people and school going children are benefitted.
Similarly, the DC asked the Tehsildar North to identify suitable land for infrastructure upgradation of Government Boys Middle School. The Chief Education Officer was also asked to take up necessary measures to propose the same under the SAMAGRA scheme.
The DC said Khimber has a huge potential for tourism activities and stressed on tapping the potential fully to boost the local economy and generate employment avenues for local youth. He also asked the local population to get registered with the Tourism Department for Home Stay.
The DC further asked the local youth to come forward and avail benefit from different self-employment schemes of the Government launched for handholding of unemployed youth.
On the occasion, the DC said Rs 47.30 lakh has been spent under DDC grants, Rs 12.5 Lakh under PRI and Rs 4.5 lakh under CD Panchayat and MGNREGA each respectively for the development of the area.
During the Camp, the Chief Agriculture Officer gave a detailed awareness about various Agriculture schemes and urged the people to take benefit from all such schemes.
Later, the DC also inspected the Government Boys Middle School and took stock of its functioning. He also walked 1.5 kilometres to inspect the road stretch from Takiya Sangreshi to Mongi Dajan via Government Boys Middle School.
Earlier, the DC paid obeisance at the Ziyarat Taiya Sangreshi and prayed for prosperity, development and wellbeing of the people.
