Bandipora : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed on Wednesday conducted a grievance redressal camp at Higher Secondary School at Shadipora as part of the weekly Block Diwas program.
Locals, including PRIs enthusiastically participated in the program to present their developmental aspirations and sought redressal of various grievances. Issues raised were with regard to roads, water supply, and irrigation, availability of teachers in schools, ration, and implementation of other social security schemes.
The DC patiently listened to the grievances and suggestions of locals and PRIs and passed on spot directions for redressal of various issues.
Dr. Owais urged the public to keep a watch on their wards to prevent them from falling into the trap of drug addiction. He directed Principal Higher Secondary Shadipora to conduct Drug De-Addiction programmes and directed school administration to hold occasional parent-teacher meetings so that the parents could monitor their wards at home.
Locals on the occasion appreciated the administration, including police in tackling the drug menace and assured every possible support from the general public to deal with it.
Later, Dr. Owais also inspected High Density Apple Orchard Shilvath facilitated by the Horticulture Department. He interacted with the farmers and urged them to avail the benefit of the schemes that are aimed to double their income.
He said the government is also keen to improve the socio-economic status of the farmers and in this regard several initiatives are being taken up to improve the farmers’ produce and subsequent income by improving irrigation facilities, better fertilizers, High Density plants, and seeds besides crop insurance.
