BSF seize 2.5 kg of heroin from Punjab border

Jalandhar: Troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday night foiled the attempt of Pakistan-based smugglers to send drugs in the border area of the state and seized 2.5 kg of contraband suspected to be heroin.
A spokesperson of the Punjab Frontier Headquarter of the Border Security Force here on Thursday said that the alert BSF troops heard the buzzing noise of a drone last night at about 2110 hrs which had come from the Pakistan side and reacted to bring it down.
In the morning today, the alert BSF troops observed a motor biker was seen hurriedly going towards Wan village in Tarn Taran district.
He was signalled to stop but he escaped. The troops tried to chase him but failed to nab him but his motorcycle was found abandoned in Mari Kamboke village.
During a search operation jointly conducted by the BSF and Punjab Police, a packet of heroin containing the aforesaid quantity of heroin was found tied to a drone with the help of an iron string.
The value of the heroin is said to be Rs 12.50 crore in the international market.
