World Environment Day observed at IEI J&K Centre, Srinagar

Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India) on Monday celebrated World Environment Day by organizing a seminar focused on the theme “Solutions to Plastic Pollution.”
The seminar was held at the IEI Auditorium, located at Church Lane, Sonwarbagh Srinagar, and attracted a diverse group of participants, including Corporate Members of IEI, Students, Research Scholars, and distinguished guests.
The event was presided over by Junaid Azim Mattu, Mayor of Srinagar, who served as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour included Er. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, former Advisor to the Governor of the erstwhile state of J&K, and Er. Naseer Ahmad Kakroo, Chief Engineer of UEED, Kashmir.
The Chief Guest lauded the Institution of Engineers (India), J&K State Centre for organizing such significant events.
The Guests of Honour delivered valuable speeches.
Earlier, the seminar commenced with two video presentations on the theme, delivered by Er. Abdul Rashid Bhat and Dr. Raja Muzaffar. It also featured insightful paper presentations by Musharaf Habib Rather, a student from GCET, Er. Rashid Ahmad Dar, retired Chief Engineer Mechanical, Er. Basharat Jeelani Kawoosa, retired Chief Engineer Civil, and Er. Farooq Ahmad Wani (FIE), former Chairman of IEIJKSC.
To further enrich the discussions, Farhat un Nisa, a Research Scholar from NIT Srinagar, Er. Irfan Ahmad Reshi, Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil), and Dr. Khalid Muzamil delivered the presentation on behalf of Dr. Abdul Qayoom Dar, Professor & Head of the Civil Engineering department at NIT Srinagar.
The coordination of the event was overseen by Er. Ferdous Ahad Bhat, MIE (Honorary Secretary), while Dr. Raof Ahmad Khan, FIE (Chairman), warmly welcomed all the participants.
The seminar provided an excellent platform for participants to exchange ideas and explore innovative solutions to tackle the challenges associated with plastic pollution. The event successfully achieved its objective of raising awareness about the critical importance of finding solutions to this issue.
The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu & Kashmir Centre has been consistently organizes such meaningful events.
