Kochi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the silver jubilee celebrations of Amrita Hospital here on Sunday.
During the ceremony, Shah also inaugurated a state-of-the-art research center spanning 185,000 sq ft at Amritapuri, as well as another facility covering 96,000 sq ft adjacent to Amrita Hospital in Kochi.
As part of the silver jubilee celebrations, Amrita Hospital has announced its future vision, dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services to those in need.
With a remarkable commitment of Rs 25 crores, in addition to the annual expenditure of Rs 40 crores for free treatment, the hospital aims to extend its care under a budget of Rs 65 crores.
The comprehensive range of medical services covered within this budget includes pediatric cardiology, renal transplant, knee replacement, bone marrow transplant, pediatric liver transplant, and fibroscan.
Since its establishment in 1998, Amrita Hospital has tirelessly served the community, having already spent Rs 816 crores for free treatment, benefiting an astonishing 59,287,728 patients until 2022.
Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, Vice Chairman of Mata Amritanandamayi Math and Vice President of Amrita Vishwavidyapeedom, expressed gratitude, stating, “Overall, the hospital has successfully treated a remarkable 196,295,527 patients, and now, the goal is to reach an astounding 50 million.”
“The 25-year projects and plans will extend until May 2024, all driven by the steadfast belief in delivering quality healthcare services rather than focusing solely on quantity. We will be offering 240 free deliveries as part of the 25 years plans. With God’s grace, we have come this far, creating a transformative impact on the health scenario of Kerala.”
Amrita Hospital already boasts an active and dynamic research center, which includes the research center at Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, spanning 3 lakh square feet.
Veena George, Minister for Health and Woman and Child Development, also attended the inaugural event.
Speaking about the forthcoming research center, Dr. Prem Nair, Group Director of Amrita Hospitals, emphasized its significance, stating “The upcoming expansion will build upon our existing research programs, focusing on genomics, nanotechnology, informatics, and cell biology. Furthermore, we are actively developing our 3D printing technology and AI machine programs through collaborations with various centres.”
“Our research programs extend beyond individual institutions, as we proudly maintain over 300 international collaborations in clinical excellence, education, research innovations, and industry partnerships.”
“These collaborations have enabled groundbreaking discoveries and the development of cost-effective, high-quality products, benefiting a larger number of patients. We are also planning to expand the peripheral outreach program in Geriatrics.”
As a gesture of appreciation, Amrita Hospital will honour its dedicated employees who have diligently served the institution for the past 20 to 25 years. The celebratory events will commence on June 2, 2023.
Amrita Hospital, Kochi, was inaugurated on May 17, 1998, by the esteemed former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Over the last 25 years, the hospital has achieved numerous milestones, spearheaded innovations, and embraced technological advancements, enabling the provision of high-quality healthcare to all. UNI
