Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and alsi recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Reshipora headed by Incharge Police Post Reshipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti at a checkpoint established at Kawani Crossing intercepted a suspicious person, adding therein that during searches 150 grams of charas powder like substance was recovered from the possession of the accused who was later identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Dar S/o Gh Mohd Dar R/o Ladermud and was thereafter arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered a case FIR No. 119/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Awantipora and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that it will act strictly against the people indulging in anti-social activities.
