Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police Station Tral after receiving specific inputs about the suspected person namely Mushtaq Ahmad Malla S/o Gh Mohi-ud-Din Malla R/o Tral-e-Payeen having indulged in drug peddling and accordingly stored huge quantity of narcotic substances in his residential house.
Police in it’s statement further said that after taking cognizance of the crime and acting swiftly, a police party led by SHO Police Station Tral along with concerned Executive Magistrate raided the specific spot and during searches recovered 5 Kgs of Poppy Straw from the said residential house, adding therein that the accused was later arrested on the spot and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that police has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 48/2023 under relevant sections at Police Station Tral and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that it will acts strictly against the people found indulging in drug peddling or other anti-social activity as per law.
