DC presided over as chief guest; cautions youth against menace of drug abuse

Shopian :: The District Administration Shopian in collaboration with the Indian Army on Saturday organized a function ‘Best Achievers Award -2023’ under ‘Choona Hai Aasman’ to celebrate and encourage the success of young and established achievers of the district at IM-GDC Shopian, here.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb was the Chief Guest and CO 2 Rajput from Indian Army was the Guest of Honour.
The core idea behind the event was to recognise, encourage and celebrate the talented and outstanding personalities who have proved themselves with their startups, careers and ventures in different fields of life.
The DC enlightened the students about the negative impacts of drug abuse and the ways of overcoming the social menace. He also explained how the students can prevent friends from consuming drugs to build a healthy Nation.
Drug use affects not only human lives, but also the social dynamics, human rights, and overall security and stability of nations. The impact on children and youth is particularly significant given their vulnerabilities, he said, while urging youth to take a pledge for drug free India.
During the event, scholars, young people, students from educational institutions enthusiastically supported the campaign and shared key messages on drug use with speeches, street theatre and were felicitated with awards, mementos and trophies.
