Udhampur : To review the progress of formation and promotion of “Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) under central sector, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Sachin Kumar Vaishya on Friday convened a meeting of officers and other stakeholders here in the Mini Conference Hall DC Office Complex.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Ghan Sham Singh and the district heads of various line departments attended the meeting.
Detailed discussion was held on the status of functioning of FPOs in the district to scale-up production, branding, and marketing under the centrally sponsored scheme of NABARD sector.
The DC said the Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) are intended to provide a platform to small farmers to enable them to collectively meet their challenges such as access to agricultural inputs and reliable market linkages. The concerned department was directed to share the business plan of the FPOs running in the district.
“Convene meetings with the stakeholders on quarterly basis to streamline and improve the functioning of the district” he asked the department. The DC further directed the concerned department to share stage wise deliverables so far. ADDC was asked to personally monitor the working of all the FPOs in the district.
