Srinagar: Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF) Frontier Ashok Yadav on Saturday said that a coordinated security plan will be in place to ensure incident free conduct of this year’s Amarnath Yatra.

“All security agencies are together making a coordinated plan and whatever the role is being given to BSF will ensure to handle peaceful and smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra”, the IG BSF said media persons on the sidelines of a walkathon event organized by the force from Nishat to Tulip garden in Srinagar on Saturday.

The 62-day long Amarnath Yatra will commence on July 1 and culminate on August 31, 2023.

The IF BSF said that the Amarnath Yatra is a coordinated effort of different agencies who are working in Kashmir under the overall order of Jammu and Kashmir Government and JK Police.

“Preparations for the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra have been initiated and we will ensure that the yatra would be conducted in a peaceful manner”, he said.

He said different teams of Disaster Management equipped with sophisticated weapons are being prepared in BSF who would be put on the strategic locations to deal with any exigency including accident or any natural disaster during the Yatra period.

Regarding melting of snow on LoC could open infiltrating routes, the IG BSF said that melting of snow may open traditional infiltration routes along the Line of Control (LoC) but BSF along with other security agencies will ensure all possible infiltration bids are foiled.

“BSF is keeping constant guard on the LoC to foil any infiltration attempt made from across the border”, he said and added “our brave soldiers are continuously conducting area domination and keeping vigil on anti-infiltration routes along with the Army”.

He said as the weather improved and snow has started melting at various places on the LoC making visible some vulnerable routes for which the BSF is mapping and accordingly preparing our deployment and redistributing them to make a grid to scuttle the infiltration bids.

“The men across the border are making constant efforts to continue terrorism or Norco terrorism or smuggle arms but our forces are taking all utmost measures to thwart their designs”, he added.

The IG BSF said that the force is ready to deal with any situation. “To defeat terrorism and to counter narco-terror, our men are high in morale and ready to tackle any situation”, he added.
