Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested foir gamblers in a series of actions in Ganderbal and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs about gambling activities at Haripora, a police party of Police Station Ganderbal raided the specific spot and arrested four gamblers identified as Hilal Ahmad Rather S/o Ghulam Hassan R/o Haripora, Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ghulam Mohammad R/o Dursoma, Mushtaq Ahmad Mir S/o GhulamQadirR/o Banhama, Zahoor Ahmad Rather S/o Ghulam Mohammad R/o Haripora, adding therein that police also seized stake money of Rs. 6,000/- and playing cards from their possession.
Stating that police has later accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 147/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Ganderbal and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that it will act against people indulging in gambling and other anti-social activities as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
