Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested 14 persons along with 14 vehicles for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, during the month of May in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that under the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, Special Police teams to check the menace of illegal mining in the District were constituted which was led by led by SHOs and DOs of Police Stations and Police Posts of the district under the supervision of SDPO Kangan Muzaffar Jan & DySP Hqr’s Ganderbal Gh Hassan and during the course of action, 14 persons were arrested & 14 vehicles (13 Tippers, 1 Tractor) were seized, who were found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals during the month of May-2023.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations investigation has been also initiated into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that it will act strictly against the people found indulging in illegal mining activities as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
