DLSA G’bal observes Anti-Tobacco Day; organizes series of Legal Awareness Progs

Ganderbal : The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal on Wednesday observed ‘Anti-Tobacco Day’ and organized series of Legal Awareness programmes regarding the NALSA (Legal Services to the Victims of Drug Abuse and Eradication of Drug Menace), Scheme 2015 at different locations in district.
The programme was held under the supervision of Chairman DLSA Ganderbal, Ritesh Kumar Dubey and under the guidance of Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, Nusrat Ali Hakak.
The programmes were conducted to spread awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and the legal services available to victims of drug abuse and the eradication of drug menace.
The first programme was held at Government Boys High School, Sherpathri Ganderbal and was spearheaded by Advocate Hilal Ahmad Ganie, panel lawyer of DLSA Ganderbal, who highlighted the hazards of tobacco consumption, and spoke about the importance of staying away from such habits.
Students and staff members actively took part in the interactive sessions and expressed their keen interest in learning more. They also took a pledge to stay away from tobacco and its consumption and also to spread awareness about its harmful effects.
The second programme was held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Chattergul Ganderbal.
Advocate Sajad Ahmad Khan, Panel Lawyer of DLSA Ganderbal was a resource person who highlighted that the NALSA Scheme 2015 will help the victims of drug abuse in understanding their legal rights and empower them to take legal action against drug suppliers. This scheme provides a legal framework to fight against the drug menace which is a threat to society, he added.
He said that this scheme will help in creating legal awareness among the students, which can enable them to become responsible and law-abiding citizens of the country. As a society, we must work together to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use and addiction, he added.
These programmes were attended by Principals, teachers, and students from both the schools, Panel Lawyers and PLVs from District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal.
