3 drug peddlers arrested across Kashmir, contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarter Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla a police party led by SHO Police Station Tangmarg under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiyaz Ahmad during naka checking at Main Market Tangmarg intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and during checking 40 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Latief Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Ahmad Mir R/o Nadirgund Kahipora Tangmarg who was accordingly arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action a police party led by Incharge Police Post Kungamdora under the supervision of Mohd Nawaz arrested one drug smuggler identified as Khalid Rashid Lone S/o Abdul Rashid Lone R/o Hanjiwera Pattan during naka checking at Kungamdara Pattan and during 50 grams of charas like substance was recovered from his possession.
Police in its above statement further said that in Kulgam district also, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Behibagh at a checkpoint established at Kadder intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Thoker S/o Mohd Hayat Thoker R/o Kadder and during checking, 2.3Kgs of Cannabis Powder and 50 grams of Charas placed in a Nylon bag was recovered from his possession following which the said accused was immediately arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and initiated an investigation into the case, Polce in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that it will act strictly against the people indulging in drug peddling and other anti-social activities as per law.
