Bandipora: Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad, a special task force led by Joint Director Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad Tuesday launched a massive drive against people who are dumping garbage on roadside in the district.
The administration had earlier imposed a ban on the act that presented a grim picture of the town.
On the directions of DC Bandipora, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad on Tuesday inspected SK Payeen Village.
Recognizing the need for a cleaner and healthier environment, the administration on the occasion imposed a fine of Rs. 10k on violators to ensure compliance with sanitation regulations.
JD Planning said, roadside cow dung heaps have been a longstanding concern in Bandipora, posing health hazards and causing inconvenience to residents and visitors alike. With the objective of addressing this issue and maintaining the cleanliness of the district, the administration has embarked on a robust campaign to deter such violations.
He further informed that under the directives of the Deputy Commissioner, a special task force has been formed comprising officials from various departments including Municipal Council and Police. The team has been actively monitoring the region and identifying areas where roadside cow dung heaps are a persistent problem.
To curb the practice of disposing of cow dung on roadsides, a penalty system has been implemented. The violators will be fined a substantial amount based on the severity and frequency of the offense. This measure aims to discourage the improper disposal of cow dung and promote responsible waste management practices in the district.
While appealing to people, JD Planning said that it is our collective responsibility to maintain a clean and healthy environment. He said that roadside cow dung heaps not only affect the aesthetics of the region but also pose serious health risks.
He further added that the District Administration is determined to address this issue through strict enforcement of regulations and penalties.
