Chairman, DDC Kupwara review implementation of SBM-G Phase- II

DC Asks officers to make rural areas clean, green & impactful

Kupwara: The Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Pandithpori on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G) Phase -II at the Meeting hall of the RDD complex Kupwara.
The review meeting was attended by DDC members, BDC Chairpersons, ACD Kupwara, ACP Kupwara and all BDOs of the district.
During the meeting, the Chairman took a detailed review of the status/ implementation of SBM-G and waste management plan in rural areas of the district.
ACD Kupwara apprised the chair that having achieved the milestone of ODF Kupwara in a time bound manner in SBM Phase –I , sustainable efforts are on to achieve targets of SBM Phase –II (ODF PLUS).
It was informed through a detailed PowerPoint presentation that, a total of 56000 soakage pits have been constructed in Kupwara district for grey water management.
SSG survey of 490 Panchayats of the district has been allocated and completed and peer to peer verification of survey is on.
With regard to solid waste management, the chair was apprised that a target of 385 segregation Sheds (one segregation shed per Panchayat) has been fixed. Administrative approval for 237 segregation sheds in the district have been accorded already and 124 segregation sheds have been allotted till date and work on 70 segregation sheds is under progress.
DPRs of 22 Plastic waste management units have been submitted to the Directorate of Rural Sanitation. DPRs of 10 Faecal Sludge Management units have been submitted to the Directorate of Rural Sanitation.
In addition to this, a location plan of 180 CSCs has been submitted to the Directorate.
The Chairman, DDC Kupwara directed the concerned to speed up the pace of work and ensure completion of segregation sheds and other components of the SBM –II within the timeline.
Chairman asked the concerned officers to take on board the PRIs in planning and implementation phases.
On the occasion, Vice Chairman DDC Kupwara, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir impressed upon the officers and field functionaries of Rural development and Revenue department to work in coordination so that ideal places out of state land and kahcharai are identified for execution of segregation sheds and other SBM projects and cleanliness of villages in Kupwara district is ensured.
