Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested 3 drug peddlers/smugglers and also recovered contraband substances and cash from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Kunzer during patrolling at Karhama Kunzer, arrested a wanted drug smuggler identified as Mansoor Ahmad Wani S/o Ghulam Mohammad R/o Kharpora Dewpora and during searches recovered 110 grams of Charas from the possession of the said accused and also a cash amount of Rs. 1,30,900/- on his disclosure.
Police in it’s statement further said that in a similar action in Kulgam district also, a police party of Police Station Kulgam during patrolling at Okey crossing, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Hilal Ahmad Mir S/o Abdul Rashid Mir R/o Okey and during searches recovered 103 grams of Charas from the possession of the above named accused who was later arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that during the course of investigation of case FIR No. 41/2023 of PS Zainapora, the arrested drug peddler identified as Shahid Afridi Shah disclosed that Sheeraz Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Razaq Bhat R/o Melhura was found actually supplying contraband substances to him, Police in it’s above referred statement furthermore said that while acting promptly, a Police party from PS Zainapora alongwith Executive Magistrate Wachi raided the house of Sheeraz Ahmad Bhat and recovered 1.2 Kgs of Charas Powder, 3 Steel Tubs, 1 Fire Pot (chulha made of clay) and 1 Mixer Grinder, adding therein that the accused was later arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Police in it’s statement also said that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and initiated an investigations into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appaled people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that it will act strictly against the people indulging in drug peddling under rules.
